Terms of Use

Effective: September 14, 2026

Heel is training guidance. It is not a vet, it is not a behaviourist, and the difference matters enough to be the first thing on this page.

1. What Heel is, and what it is not

Heel gives you training exercises and a suggested order to work them in. It does not diagnose anything, medical or behavioural, and it is not a substitute for a veterinary surgeon or a qualified behaviourist who can watch your dog in the room.

If something about your dog worries you, ask a vet. Nothing here should delay that.

2. Some problems get no plan, on purpose

If what you describe involves biting, aggression, guarding with contact, or signs that could be medical, Heel stops and shows you how to find the right person instead of writing a plan. That is the app working rather than failing, and it is not a judgement of you or your dog.

That check is deliberately cautious and it is not perfect in either direction. It stopping is a reason to see somebody. It not stopping is not a clearance.

3. Force free only

Every exercise in Heel is reward based. Nothing in it asks you to use a prong collar, an electronic collar, a choke chain, a leash correction, or any approach built on dominance. If you use Heel alongside methods like those, you are outside what this app is for and outside what it has been written to be safe with.

4. Your dog is your responsibility

You know your dog and we do not. You decide whether an exercise is appropriate on the day, in that place, with that dog, and you stop if it is not going well. Keeping your dog and the people around you safe is your call to make, and an app cannot make it for you.

5. No promise of results

Dogs are not software. Heel does not guarantee that any behaviour will change, or change within any period of time, and it never tells you it will. Training takes as long as it takes, and some problems need a person.

6. Heel Plus

Your first plan is free and complete. It does not ask for a card, and there is no trial that quietly turns into a charge.

Heel Plus is a subscription that adds further plans, the Foundations library, and more than one dog. It is billed by Apple to your Apple Account and renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time in Settings on your iPhone, at least a day before it renews. Prices are shown in the app in your own currency before you buy.

Refunds are handled by Apple rather than by us, through the usual App Store process.

7. What you write

What you type about your dog stays yours. We use it to produce your plans and to run the app, as described in the privacy policy, and for nothing else.

8. Availability

A plan you already have works without a signal, which is deliberate, because training happens outdoors. Making a new one needs a connection. We do not promise the service is always available, and we may change or withdraw features, though we will not take away a plan you are part way through without telling you.

9. Age

You need to be at least 13 to use Heel.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page changes with it, and the effective date above changes too.
