Privacy Policy

Effective: August 13, 2026

Nomad is a road-trip planner for Canada with an optional distance leaderboard and a premium AI trip planner. This policy explains what the app sends, what we store, and why.

1. The short version

  • You need an account (email and password) to use Nomad. Your email is used for sign-in and nothing else.
  • Location is recorded only while a trip you started is active, to count your distance for the leaderboard. There is no background or always-on tracking.
  • The premium AI planner sends your planning conversation to our server and on to Anthropic, the AI provider, to build your itinerary. Don't type anything into it you wouldn't want processed.
  • We run no ads, no third-party analytics, and no tracking across apps or websites.

2. Your account

Nomad uses Supabase for authentication and storage, hosted in Canada. We store your email address, a display username, and the data described below, all keyed to your account.

3. Trips and the leaderboard

When you start a trip, the app records GPS points until you end it. Those points are uploaded to your account so the server can compute your distance honestly; the leaderboard shows only your username, display name, and total distance. Tracking stops the moment you end the trip, and the app never records location outside an active trip.

4. The AI trip planner, if you subscribe

When you use the AI planner, the following is transmitted and stored:

  • Your planning conversation: the answers and messages you send are relayed through our server to Anthropic to generate questions and your itinerary, subject to Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
  • Your itineraries: finished plans are saved to your account so you can reopen them.
  • Usage counts: we record how many planning turns and itineraries you use per day to enforce fair-use limits.

5. Subscriptions

Premium is billed by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details; Apple sends us a signed receipt that we verify to unlock premium on your account.

6. Places data

The places Nomad shows come from open data — OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, and Parks Canada — with attribution shown in the app. Nothing about you is sent to those projects.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your trips, itineraries, conversations, and subscription record are kept while your account exists. Deleting your account deletes them. To request deletion, contact orchardskydigital@gmail.com.

8. Children

Nomad is not directed at children under 13.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is published here and the effective date above moves.
