Privacy Policy

Effective: October 14, 2026

Teal plays spoken affirmations as mixes. It is built to work on your phone first, so most of this page is about the little that leaves it.

1. The short version

  • Teal works from the first launch without an account. Your mixes, saved affirmations, listening history and settings live on your phone.
  • There is no advertising, no advertising identifier, and no tracking across other apps or websites. Teal never asks to track you.
  • Teal never records you. The affirmations are recordings that ship with the app; nothing is generated from what you do, and the microphone is never used.
  • Anonymous usage events go to PostHog so we can see which parts of the app help people. They are not tied to your name, your email or a profile, and you can turn them off in Profile.
  • Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card.

2. What stays on your phone

Everything you make or choose in Teal: the feelings and moments you picked, your mixes, the affirmations you saved, what you listened to recently, where you stopped listening, and your settings (voice, pause length, ambience, volume, reminder time). It is kept in the app's own storage on your phone.

If you never create an account, none of it leaves your phone, and deleting the app deletes it.

3. If you create an account

An account is optional. You can create one later so your library can follow you to another phone. Creating one keeps everything you made as a guest.

If you do, your email address, the name you give, and your library (mixes, saved affirmations, listening history and settings) are stored with Supabase, our database and sign-in provider. Your password is handled by Supabase and is never stored in a readable form.

4. Anonymous usage events

To learn which parts of Teal help people, the app sends a short list of anonymous events to PostHog, our analytics provider, which stores them in the EU. They include which screens were opened, the steps of the first-run setup (how many feelings you picked, whether you pressed play, whether you said yes to a reminder), when the Premium screen was shown, whether a purchase started, finished or was cancelled and on which plan, and when a mix played to its end. If the app crashes, a report of the error is sent too.

Each install has a random identifier, stored on your phone, so events from the same install can be counted together. PostHog also receives basic device information such as the operating system and app version. No person profile is created, the identifier is not linked to your email or your account, and nothing you type is ever sent.

You can turn this off at any time in Profile, under Privacy, with Share anonymous usage data. While it is off, the app sends nothing to PostHog at all, not even screen views or crash reports.

5. Purchases

Teal Premium is bought through Apple's In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing. Apple or Google takes the payment; we never see your card, your billing address or your store account. Whether you have Premium is checked with the store on your phone.

We use RevenueCat to keep a record of purchases: the plan, the price and currency, the store's transaction, and an anonymous identifier for this install. On iPhone, RevenueCat also receives Apple's attribution token, which tells us whether an install came from an Apple Search Ads campaign. That token does not identify you and does not require permission to track.

6. Reminders

The daily reminder, and the reminder we send the day before a free trial ends, are scheduled by your phone and delivered by your phone. There is no push service, and nothing identifying your device is sent anywhere to deliver them. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings.

7. Deleting your data

You can delete everything from inside the app. In Profile, choose Delete account (or Erase my data, if you never made an account). It deletes your account and everything stored with it, erases everything Teal kept on your phone, cancels the reminders it scheduled, and starts the app over. It cannot be undone, and there is no grace period.

With an account, that also removes your account and your library from Supabase straight away. Without one, deleting the app deletes everything Teal kept on your phone too. If you can no longer open the app, email us and we will delete the account for you.

Anonymous usage events cannot be traced back to you, so there is nothing to look up there. Deleting also gives the app a new anonymous identifier, so events from before and after are never joined.

Cancelling Premium is done in your App Store or Google Play settings; deleting your account or the app does not cancel it.

8. Who handles your data

  • Apple and Google: app distribution and payments.
  • Supabase: accounts and synced libraries, only if you create an account.
  • PostHog: anonymous usage events and crash reports.
  • RevenueCat: purchase records and Apple Search Ads attribution.

9. Children

Teal is not directed at children under 13.

10. Changes to this policy

If what the app does with your information changes, this page changes with it, and the effective date above changes too.
